Since the dawn of mankind people have tried to explain Why we came here to Earth, to this life, at this specific timeframe; but the question people always seemed to be deeply fascinated and morbidly entwined with is "what happens after death?". Do we perish together with our thoughts our experiences our Intellect? Do we still live after in a different way?
All these questions led the Ancient dwellers of this planet to start conjuring myths and telling stories about how life continues after death, how everything keeps moving in the eternal Wheel and nothing stops or Ends. Others imagined life after death an easy place where the soul could rest and feast eternally until the end of Time. Others thought that afterlife was a burning place filled with torture and suffering, a place where the soul would be punished for the sins of the body.
Ancient Egyptians, one of the greatest civilizations ever existed had a different concept. The concept of Balance literally and metaphorecally. Duat, the Ancient Egyptian underworld is a perilous deep dark pit, a path that passes through the Caverns Of Apep, the coiling snake that awaits to devour every unworthy , visible soul He sees, leading to the Scales Of Anubis, where the Soul is weight against a feather, and if found heavier, it is consumed by a vicious Godess Ammit, part crocodile, part lion, part hippopotamus. If the Soul is found Pure, it passes on to the Chambers Of Osiris for it's final Judgement and then to the Fields Of Aaru, where Work Eternal together with one's loved ones awaits.
Work Eternal for the Soul, as we must Work Eternally on this, material plain, in order to help our Soul Ascend, and armed with Purity, Virtue and Will, we shall live forever.
